19 May 1875 — Madrid | |
Wednesday. 19th [May 1875]. We went to dine with Mr Gallenga at the Hamiltons to meet Cushing, Mr Knapp, Mr Adee, Col Fitch, Mmes Olañeta & Wiskeranda &c The dinner had been cooked by our own cook & Giovanni did the rest lending plate china &c &c. The dining room being small & we 22 in No it was a tremendous squeeze at table. After dinner I played for the young folk to dance & we left abt 11. | |
