28 May 1875 — En route to Genoa
Friday. 28th [May 1875]. It was blowing up a gale when we woke & Hill was very frightened & green. I remained in bed all the morning & when I dressed wh I did still on the bed I managed to get on deck & stayed there the rest of the day dosing in an easy chair & having my food brought up to me. Towards eveng it calmed down. Watched the middies “skylarking” for ½ hour before dinner– Borrowed a novel & read a good deal.
