24 June 1875 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Thursday. 24th [June 1875]. Dull morng but we went to bathe & got back just before the rain began– A woman with lace we met yesterday in the street came & I bought a little of her. We went to Guggenheims & went over his shop. Came home & painted when in walks Castelar. We made him stop & dine with us. He tells us he is going to write a book on Venice & asked Henry “Si cela vous ferait un dont si je vous le didier” Henry answered he thought his politics were so well known that there would be no danger. After dinner we took him to the Piazza where he left us.
