10 July 1875 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Saturday. 10th [July 1875]. We were starting for Lido abt 7 when it began to rain so we returned & went at 8.30 as it cleared up. Got back just before a violent storm came on. The Invincible arrived & Capt Iago came to call before 1 o’cl. Henry & Morelli went out together & I went to sketch, they fetched me at 5. After dinner to Piazza—few people there as it was 1st night of Verdi’s. Miss Solemmelle, Alex Malcolm there. Took leave of Morelli who leaves us for Bergamo tomorrow morng. | |
