12 July 1875 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Monday. 12th [July 1875]. We went to bathe at the Favorita. Mr Malcolm came with papers to choose for the walls of the upper floor. At 1 I went to see Css Marcello to propose that we should go to the Invincible on Wednesday & we made a list of the people we should invite. Henry took Capt. Iago & a lot of the officers to Murano to see the glass blowing. From Css M. I went to paint till 5. The gondola fetched me & then we went to Salviati to fetch Henry. Capts Iago & Solly dined with us. After dinner we took them to Hotel Britannia & were going to the Piazza when it began to blow & fearing a storm we rushed home. The storm did not come up so we went out but the wind was high & we did not stay long. | |
