22 July 1875 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 22nd [July 1875]. Not up very early. After lunch a visit from Mr Brown. At 2 went to Guggenheim’s to sketch in the well in his court yard wh I am putting in to the picture of the other court with the vine—from there went to the other court & went on with sketch. R. Madrazo was also there. Intended to have stayed till 5.30 but it got so cloudy that I was obliged to come away at 4.30– Painted at home. Went to Piazza. Met the V. Consul who tells us that the bride Mrs. M. Campbell has fled & returned to her parents in Germany. | |
