7 February 1876 — Madrid | |
Monday. 7th [February 1876]. The Messenger arrived from England. Henry went to see the King to thank him for sending to enquire after him during his illness. I painted all the morng. At 2 Henry & I went out together went first to the Bauers whom we found in & then to leave more cards & found that Ct Nava del Tajo was ill with gastric fever. We had a large number of people here in the eveng owing to our not having recd the last 2 Mondays. | |
