21 April 1876 — Madrid
Friday. 21st [April 1876]. Ida Bauer came & fetched me to go out driving. We went to call on Css Salm to ask after her husband who has got a kind of paralysis of the left side. Found her in. Went after to Ysolinas & settled my dress wh is to be yellow silk trimmed with gauze &c & garlands of poppies & leaves & to cost 4000rs. From there we went to Honorino’s to meet the Dss de la Torre by appointment but as she did not come at the hour we cd not wait & went on to Escobars to choose some stuff for a day dress wh Hill is to make & chose a dust coloured silk with a lighter coloured Japanese kind of foulard. Ida left me at Mme Greindl’s where I found a lot of the Corps Dip: calling & Mme G still on the sofa. In the eveng I worked at the repostero till bed time. The weather is changing & getting warmer. Henry is rather better of his cough & went out a little.
