21 May 1876 — Madrid | |
Sunday. 21st [May 1876]. Did not go to church– A good many people called amongst them Castelar, the Walshams, Hunts &c. The Bernars came & I went down & sat in the carriage to talk to her as she was not well. She dropped me at the Phipps house where Sartoris & Kennedy are now living as I had promised to go to tea there. Clarita was there also Lord Meath & Lady Katheleen Brabazon who seemed very nice people. It was showery. Came back to drive with Henry at 6. We took a turn in the Retiro. We dined with the Bauers as usual on the eve of our departure but did not stay late. | |
