24 June 1876 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Saturday. 24th June [1876]. Stormy weather. No bathing. Went to S. Trovaso to paint with Mrs Burr. At 4 went to Salviati to fetch Henry—went to Mr Malcolms & he took Henry & me to his garden to choose some pots of flowers. He gave me some lovely roses. I arranged flowers for the dinner table. Ct & Css Pisani dined with us & we afterwards sat on the terrace. They left abt 7. It looked stormy but still we went out for a row & were under the gardino reale listening to the music when we were caught in a shower & had to hurry home. Watched the storm from the terrace.
