28 June 1876 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Wednesday. 28th [June 1876]. Hill, Henry & I all bathed today. After breakfast I finished my sketch from Gonzalvo’s picture & then we went to the chapel & I began to paint. We came home at 5. Lord Warwick & his son Lord Brooke who are here for a short time came to dine with us. It was the 1st time I had met them. Both are charming. Ld W rather deaf—very quiet, small—a perfect gentleman– His son like him—a little taller & more spritely. We took them to the Piazza where the band was playing & walked for ½ hour.
