9 July 1876 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Sunday. 9th July [1876]. Went with Hill to Lido & met Marcellos close to the Piazza & the Css changed places with Hill; as we neared the Lido a storm got up & Css M. was dreadfully alarmed as her gondola with the children was a little way off. We had to wait at the Establishment till the storm was over & then bathed & got home a little before 11. Went out with Henry in gondola in Afternoon—called on Adl & Mme Cerruti & found them in. She is English. We were going on to Browns but it began to rain & we went home. The Edens came to tea. In eveng Mme Marcello called but as we were going out she did not come in. | |
