11 August 1876 — Canford Manor, nr. Wimborne, Dorset | |
Friday. 11th August [1876]. At 11 I went up to the garden to meet Luff & went to his house & sat talking to him for some time about his leaving Canford abt wh he is very unhappy. He is to go to be agent at Fifehead– Having been at Canford for 32 years he feels leaving. I went on to call on the Damers & fetch Kate & we drove in the Victoria to Wimborne to see Mrs Housden & buy some slippers to work for Henry & then to see Mrs Woodruff who has set up as dressmaker & is the crack modiste of Wimborne. We got home just in time for lunch. Sat out of doors. There was a cricket match with Broadstone. Canford won. I went to Mrs Allen & let Kitty go on to Luffs. Took a walk in the garden with Ivor. Helped Cornelia to put up flowers– A few people to dinner Revd Tom, Mrs & Miss Patey & Mr Daniell. | |
