23 November 1876 — Madrid | |
Thursday. 23rd [November 1876]. Albareda came to tea & begged Henry to give him some published documents to make use of in a speech he means to make in the Cortes on Saty wh we promised to go & hear. After dinner Henry took the Bruces to the theatre & I went straight to the Bauers & he joined me there later. There was besides the usual tertulia—Canovas del Castillo & the Acapulcos & a great deal of talking Albareda being in high spirits & constantly attacking Canovas. We came home late. | |
