30 November 1876 — Madrid
Thursday. 30th [November 1876]. In the evening we went to Dss de la Torres. The Duke was away—few people there & none we knew. The Dss very angry as she had yesterday recd an order from the Govt to restore to the Crown all the Crown property Serrano had bought at La Granja– She said she hoped the Govt wd repay them what they had spent on the land & the house they had built. The land was sold by the Govt after the Revolution of 1868. We went on to the Bauers where we found the usual tertulia & Ct & Css Salm. We heard that M. d’Aylton was very ill having had yesterday a stroke.
