1 December 1876 — Madrid | |
Friday. 1st December [1876]. I went out directly after breakfast to the Ayltons & saw Bernadine & Mlle S. Carlos– Brehm was also there & said he thought M. Aylton would not live 24 hours. He walked home with me. I did not go out again. Henry went to the station to see Cardinal Simeoni off. He has been named the Popes Minister in place of Cardinal Antonelli. Hatzfeldt came to see me & stay a long time chatting & then Henry joined us at tea. Later came Mme d’Antas & Emilia Riaño who has only returned from England today. | |
