25 December 1876 — Madrid | |
Monday. [25 December 1876]. Christmas Day. Not much better but got up & went to church. A large congregation– Had Phipps, Lindstrand & Ruiz Gomez in our sitting. Had to lie down the rest of the day—lunched in boudoir– Bauers called abt 5. Had 20 to dinner– All Legation except Clarita—Cushing, Adee, Hamiltons – Fitch, Ittersum, Lindstrand, Hatzfeldt, Riaños, Ruiz Gomez, Molony. A good many people came in the eveng viz: Soverals, Rabagos, Queseds, Acapulcos &c | |
