21 April 1877 — Constantinople
Saturday. 21st April [1877]. The Drs prescription did me no good & I was hors de combat all day. Had a visit from Lady Kemball whom I had once met at dinner in England just after I married. She did not attract me much. She is small sharp featured & fair. She talked a deal of her intimacy with Lady Elliot. Mrs Baring our secy’s wife also called—she is also small, fair & rather plain. Henry was very busy all day; about 5 he called me out to walk in the garden & I went & took a turn & picked some lilacs but I felt very C.D & my cold was very bad.
