17 February 1878 — Constantinople | |
Sunday. 17th [February 1878]. Mrs de Winton still on bed. I arranged her room and then went to church. 30 cyphered telegrams came in before church time so none of the gentlemen could get to church. Mrs A. Hanson & her 3 children came to our pew. Henry did not come to luncheon. He was gone to the Sultan. I sat with Mrs de Winton in the afternoon until Mrs A. Hanson came in & then Mr Lebet called– Went to eveng church. Mr Kennedy read the lessons. 14 to dinner in eveng. All the Embassy dined including the Barings. Hobart P. dined. | |
