18 February 1878 — Constantinople | |
Monday. 18th [February 1878]. Mrs de W. a little better– Spent a good deal of time with her. Made Jerry do his lessons. Mrs Parnis & Mrs A. Hanson came in the morning to call. At 3 Adl Hornby came & as Henry was busy he came & sat with me– Afterwards I went out in the chair to make some calls & went in to Mrs Cullen found the daughter in law only—the mother was ill went on to the Dorcas meeting at Mrs La Fontaine’s & stayed there abt 1 hour just to settle the business of the day. Capts Mackennon & dined with us & Mr Ashburnham & Major de Winton. Usual reception. Mehemet Ali P. came. | |
