22 February 1878 — Constantinople | |
Friday. 22nd [February 1878]. Mrs de W. still ill. Mrs A. Hanson came & we worked together & she lunched with us. In the afternoon I went out in the garden intending to walk with Henry but so many people came to call that I had to take my book & sit & read while he walked up & down talking to them. Mr Bartlett came abt 6 & worked at my screen for me & then Henry came up for a little while. Major de W., Mr Smijth & Ld G. Montague dined. Hobart P. came in eveng. Mr Elliot left for Vienna today. The messenger left for England. | |
