31 March 1878 — Constantinople | |
Sunday. 31st [March 1878]. I was able to go to church. It was very hot indeed and sultry. In the afternoon I copied a secret despatch for Henry & then walked in the garden with him. Randolph Stewart called on me just before evening church to wh I went. The Embassy & Lady Strangford dined. Poor Miss Guarracino is very ill of typhus & was prayed for in church. Mrs Baring was there and she was so over come she had to go away before the sermon. | |
