1 May 1878 — Therapia | |
Wednesday. 1st May [1878]. Lovely weather. I got up early & wrote letters & wrote all the morning. Mrs H. Hanson sent over the cow we have bought of them. Capt. Stopford came to fetch Mrs Jocelyn, the Genl & me & took us over to Beikos to take a walk in the Sultan’s valley. We walked as far as the shooting kiosque & rested in the garden there surrounded by refugee children one of whom had had the small pox at some no very remote time. We went on board the “Helicon” to have some tea before returning home. Major de Winton & Mr Kennedy dined. | |
