13 May 1878 — Therapia | |
Monday. 13th May [1878]. Henry went to town in the steam launch to breakfast with Zichy, to go to the Porte & to Prince Reuss to congratulate him on the escape from assassination of the Emperor William. I remained at home & painted all the morning till lunch. Mr Ashburnham lunched with me. After lunch Mr Thompson came for orders. I went up to the stables to see the ducklings & cows. one duckling is dead. At 4 I went out to call on Mme Fournier and on Mrs Blunt & Mrs (Col) Fawcett. Found the 1st & last in. Came home & Mme Fournier & Mlle came and sat in the grove & had tea & Henry, Messrs Ash: & Cartwright played 2 games of lawn tennis. Mess Ash: & Cart dined with us. Sang in the evening. | |
