19 June 1878 — Therapia | |
Wednesday. 19th [June 1878]. Bathed for the 1st time this year at 7 o’cl: Wrote for mail & copied for Henry. Made Jerry do his lessons. Zichy came to luncheon. Aftn painted till 4 when went out riding with Henry & Mr Kennedy thro’ the forest of Belgrade to the village. Dismounted & had coffee & nargilehs & then rode home by the road. In the forest we met several drill parties of soldiers from the camps & it added greatly to the scene. The bugle calls—groups of men seated abt here & there a horse waiting. Mr Sandison & Genl were the only ones at dinner with us. | |
