4 October 1878 — Therapia
Friday. 4th [October 1878]. Wrote letters for the messenger bag & copied for Henry. Directly after luncheon Henry & I, Miss Boyd, the Burrs, Miss Scobell, Hill, Giovanni & Jerry embarked in the “Antelope” and went down to town. Henry called on Hayreddin P. but he was out, so we went on to see Pss Nazlie & found her in. We then went up to Pera to call on Countess Zichy but altho’ we had made an appointment they were out so we went to call on the d’Ehrenhoffs. We found May & Mellony there & for fear Mellony shd be late for her steamer for Trieste we did not pay a long visit but carried them off & took her to join Mr & Mrs Gower on their steamer & then went on board the Antelope. We saw the Trieste steamer go off before we started for Artaki. We left abt 6 & steamed slowly all night.
