17 January 1879 — Constantinople | |
Friday. 17th January [1879]. Had a singing lesson. Henry, May & I went out to lunch with Genl & Lady Dickson. Met Mr Mascale there. Afterwards I went to see Pss Nazlie whose husband died on Saty last– She seemed a good deal relieved tho’ she cd not say so. Dr Mavrogeni called there at the same time with a message from the Sultan abt helping her to get out of pawn the jewels her husband had taken from her. Mr L. Gower dined. | |
