24 March 1879 — Hamilton House
Monday. 24th [March 1879]. We went to dine with Lord Beaconsfield at the Treasury to meet the Wales & Belgians; neither the Q or Pss were there both being ill with colds. The Salisburys were there. Lady S. talked a deal to me abt Consple & ran down the English there saying they were all snobs & she wd not condescend to speak to them & she felt inclined to send them down to the housekeepers or steward’s rooms. Dizzy did nothing but talk to her daughter. Henry got a bad cold at dinner by sitting with his back to a half open door wh they opened for the sake of hearing the band better.
