27 May 1879 — Therapia | |
Tuesday. 27th May [1879]. Henry went to dine with the Sultan & took Sir A. Sandison with him. Alice & I had tea at 7 & then walked in the garden as it was so hot we cd not bear to remain in & we sat out & watched the fireflies & picked roses. When Henry came home he said that there had been a narrow escape of an accident. The Sultan was showing off a new gun in his little kiosque not knowing it was loaded & it went off between Henry & Sir Alfred just missing them both. H.M. was in a great way about it & begged it should be kept a secret. | |
