28 May 1879 — Therapia | |
Wednesday. 28th [May 1879]. It was still very hot & Alice & I went & sat up on a terrace in the garden to read our “Life of Barneveld.” Mrs Willy & May came to call– At 5 Alice, Henry & I rode. We went round by the Buyukderé road to Yeni-keui & home by the key. I rode Tommy & he pulled very much. Mme Alexandre P. & Photiades Bey came to dine & Mr Oliphant & Sir Alfred. We took them out in the 6 oared caique in the eveng & went to Buyukdere to hear the Russian band wh was famously bad. It was a lovely moonlit night. | |
