30 May 1879 — Mudania, on board the Antelope
Friday. 30th May [1879]. we found ourselves anchored at Mudania. We dressed, had a cup of tea, & set off abt ¼ 8 for Brusa in carriages. We arrived at Sir Alfred’s farm at abt 11. The drive was lovely. There was a beautiful view on the hill above Mudania—looking one way to the sea the other to the plain of Brusa. We breakfasted & settled ourselves at the farm where we were the guests of Mrs Sandison & her brother D. Zorab. In the afternoon we went into the town to call on Ahmed Vefyk Pasha now Governor of Brusa. Found him well & in high spirits & pleased with his work. After taking coffee with him we went off to visit the green mosque & tomb & then went home.
