10 June 1879 — Therapia | |
Tuesday. 10th [June 1879]. M. d’Ehrenhoff & Aimée came to luncheon also Horace Guarracino & Baker P. After lunch Pss Aziza (Nazlie’s sister) came to call & stayed a couple of hours. As soon as she left I went off to join Henry & Alice on board the “Bittern” to see the races between them & the “Antelope.” There was also a pig shut up in a box at the end of a greasy pole wh was to be had by the man who cd walk along & liberate it. The 1st man who attempted it by cheating got it out & piggy fell into the sea & several men went in after it. Among them piggy got drowned & was lost. As there was dancing Henry & I came home to dinner & left Alice with Lady Dickson. A. did not return till past 11. | |
