29 August 1879 — Therapia | |
Friday. 29th August [1879]. Edward read aloud to us– Long dresses came from Paris; tried them on– At 1 Pss Aziza called with her French lady & little boy & another young lady & stayed till 4. Blanche sang to her. Mlle Zarifi came to join the riding party & they went out all except Edward who played lawn tennis. I went out in the caique to pay visits. Went down to Mme Hilmy P. but she was not in. Coming back I went round by Beikos to see Mr Smijth & Dr Zohrab fish—they were not catching much so I did not stay with them. Capt. Swaine dined with us. Sang in the eveng. | |
