1 September 1879 — Therapia
Monday. 1st [September 1879]. I stayed in bed late. Later on arranged the red sash on B’s gown for tonight’s dance & in the afternoon I made Jerry learn his lessons. I dined upstairs & only came down in the eveng & even then wore my spectacles. We danced in the drawing room & had the tea in the corridor & the supper in the waiting room. Being the last of our Monday dances a great many people came. At 12 there was supper & afterwards there was a cotillion led by Blanche & Mr Bland—nearly every body stayed for it & it was very animated & was kept up till 2.30. We had Camelieres band of 4 musicians & they played very well. May came to stay.
