12 March 1880 — Constantinople
Friday. 12th [March 1880]. Alice read to me while I worked. In the afternoon Alice, Henry & I walked in the garden & tho’ the sun was hot the wind was bitter so we did not stay out long. The Austrian Baron Haan the Commander of the stationnaire called—also Ct Montholon, Mr Bagden & then the Heaps. Mrs Heap was very kind about offering to write to America to get help for the refugees. The Willy Hansons dined with us & in the evening Ct Corti & came in the evening– Dominos.
