28 March 1880 — Constantinople
Sunday. 28th March [1880]. Easter Sunday. I got up early & went to 8.30 service with Alice. And went again at 11 o’cl, we had a full service chanted Psalms & Anthem. In the afternoon I walked in the garden with Henry & it was nice & warm. Mme Mantilla came to see me in the afternoon & told me that Ittersum wants to marry Hatzfeldt’s governess wh I had long suspected—but that he was afraid to tell me lest I shd laugh at him. Had usual Embassy dinner & the Lascelles dined also. Henry was busy with Savas P. all the eveng. Capt. Swaine & I sang together Mr Sartoris accompanying us.
