15 April 1880 — Constantinople | |
Thursday. 15th April [1880]. Mrs Arthur left after breakfast. Tho’ I had a headache I got up & sat chatting & working with Mrs Lascelles. After lunch the Admiral, Mr Lambton & Mr Kirkness left us to return to Malta going as they came in the Antelope as far as the Dardanelles. It was at last fine eno’ to sit out in the garden & take tea there & receive visitors there. Mrs Lascelles & Mrs Jolliffe & I sat out some time & it was very pleasant altho’ there were very little shade as the chestnut trees had only begun to burst into leaf. Quiet evening alone. | |
