25 April 1880 — Constantinople | |
Sunday. 25th April [1880]. I went to church in the morng. In the afternoon Mme Livadari came & I took her with us to the afternoon Choral Service which Mr Washington had arranged with the combined Churches of the different English communities in the villages. It was very successful & the Chapel was crammed. We had usual dinner for Embassy consisting of Mrs Lascelles, Mr St John, Mr Leveson Gower, Ct Pisani, Mr Oliphant, Mr Steven, Capt. Swaine, Mr Sartoris, Mr Bland, Sir Alfred Sandison. | |
