26 April 1880 — Constantinople
Monday. 26th April [1880]. In the morning we went off I & Mrs Lascelles & Mme Livadari to the German Embassy to have a rehearsal for the Concert. We were there all the morning & worked hard at arrangements & tried over pieces. The room is a splendid large one & the thing is promising. Css Dubsky was there & tried over a piece to play. Abt 12 we came away—& we stopped at Commendingers the music shop to ask if he had a good piano for hire. I then went to Mme Condouriotis and found she had done nothing abt the Advertisements & dictated to her what they should be—& then went home to lunch. Mrs A. Hanson came to lunch. Not fine eno’ to sit out so had tea indoors. Visit from Mme Camara– The Mantillas, Hatzfeldt, Mr St John, Mrs Lascelles & Sir Alfred Sandison dined with us. Dominos.
