7 May 1880 — Therapia | |
Friday. 7th May [1880]. Sir Wm & Lady Gregory arrived to breakfast having come from Athens. They are on their honeymoon trip. She is his 2nd wife and a great deal younger than him. He is older than Henry & she abt 21. She is plain but intelligent looking. We walked in the garden to show the G’s the place– Henry had another telegram saying Mr Goschen would start about 17th from England & Henry thinks it unlikely we shall return here– Visit from Mrs H. Hanson, & a long talk with her abt Mrs Willy’s goings on & flirtations. I think it looks bad– After luncheon had visits from the Mantillas, Montholon & Collobiano who all came to condole at our departure. We walked with the Gregorys & Sir Alfred Sandison to Kirech Burnu & back– | |
