1 June 1880 — Therapia | |
Tuesday. 1st June [1880]. Busy morning making up accounts with Mr E. Goschen. Went up to stables to settle with James to see Mrs Currie, & Rose the laundry maid. It was a very hot day. Mrs Arthur Hanson met me in the garden. She had come up to say Good bye. M. & Ida d’Ehrenhoff & Mme Heidenstam came to luncheon. Afterwards I had Mme Kiasim to see me, Mme Serkis, Mme Alischan, the Condouriotis, Mantillas, Hatzfeldt, Ittersum. We sat in the garden & had tea—then played a last game of tennis I & Mr Bland against Hatzfeldt & Henry. At 6 Henry & I went for a last row in the 3 oared caique we went to leave messages at the Bartholeyus & the Antelope & Falcon to ask them in to tea this eveng & then as far as Yeni-keui to leave cards on Mme [illegible word]. When we got home I had only just time to dress for dinner. The Mantillas, Hobart P., Sir A. Sandison, Hamdi P. (the Sultan’s 1st chamberlain) & Musurus P., Mr Goschen M.P. & Mr Clarke Jervoise made up our party. After dinner all the Embassy, the Antelope Officers, Hatzfeldt, Ittersum & Miss Addison, Sir B. Walker & Capt. Clark (of Falcon) came in. We played one last game of dominos. I & Hatzfeldt against Henry & the Marquesa—we won– | |
