24 September 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 24th September [1880]. Worked all the morning at unpacking the small things that go into the glass cabinets. At 12 d’Azeglio came with M. Ephrussi & brought M. Dreyfus to see our pictures. We unpacked today our water coloured copies. We lunched at 1 & directly after we had a visit from M. [&] Mme & Mlle Rénan & Mme Castellani & showed them over the house– Mme C. brought me as a present a lovely piece of green & gold cut velvet. Henry went out in the afternoon but I did not– Sir Wm & Miss Drake dined with us & we went to the Piazza in the evening but it rained a little & we had to sit under the colonade. We saw the Castellanis & took leave of them as they leave tomorrow. Sir Wm Drake made me a present of a copy of the reproduction of Vecellios “Corona” the Lace pattern book.
