7 October 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Thursday. 7th [October 1880]. The Drakes came to luncheon & afterwards Henry took Ella for a walk in the streets. Sir Wm remained some time with me chatting abt many things—my family—Arthur—Mr Clark &c &c & then he went to join Henry & Ella at the Piazza & I went up to work at hanging pictures &c. Sir Wm Drake, Sir Baliol & Lady Brett (He is the Lord Justice) dined with us. Ella excused herself– The Bretts talked a great deal of old things of wh she vowed herself very fond– They went away at 9 & Henry & I walked on the Piazza a little while. | |
