8 October 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice | |
Friday. 8th [October 1880]. I spent a busy day arranging papers & tearing up letters & hanging pictures. Henry was out all the morng with Sir Wm & Sir Baliol looking for a chimney piece for the latter– There was a thunderstorm & from having been oppressively hot in the morning it became quite cool & there was a lovely evening– We went out in the gondola. Went to Mercato’s where we found the Drakes buying things. There was a very fine zodiacal light at sunset wh we saw. The Drakes dined with us. | |
