25 October 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 25th October [1880]. It was a fine cold morning & very clear & bright after the storm. I wrote &c in the morning. Henry & Mr Burton went out directly after lunch to Murano to see the glass blowing & to show it to Browning & his sister. I had a nice long afternoon—unpacked my paints & began to paint again which was a great pleasure to me– When it got dark I practised songs– After dinner it looked so fine that we were tempted out & we went out & walked up & down in the square, Mr Burton going with us. We went into Ongania’s shop & saw a fine old bronze door knocker wh he had for sale.
