Monday. 1st November [1880]. Painted till 3. Went out with Henry to the Piazzetta. Went in to S. Marks to see the Pala D’Oro wh is exposed today being All Saint’s day. Vespers was going on so we could not get very near it. We walked up & down the Piazza hearing the band play till 4. At 2 o’clock we had a visit from Mrs Graham & showed her all the pictures– We took a row out a little way & came home as the sun was setting. After tea I worked at translation of the lace book for Sir Wm Drake. Mr Malcolm dined with us. He brought me a Libro d’Oro as a present.
