19 November 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Friday. 19th [November 1880]. Got up at 10. Painted in water colours all the morng tinkering up old drawings of Granada. Lovely day– Did not go out; began to arrange books in library but was not well eno’ to continue. Lady Bagot called & came up to the studio– We bought the 2 portraits for 300 fcs. The Longhi is in a very bad state. Hung them in the studio– After dinner we sat in the verandah & lighted for the first time the old Venetian lamp there wh was rather dim altho’ it had 4 wicks. Telegram from Ivor that he will not have the old tapestry Guggenheim has for sale & which Henry recommends him to buy–
