29 November 1880 — Ca’ Capello, Venice
Monday. 29th [November 1880]. Had the girl for a model of hand. Guggenheim came & brought Signor Urbani to be introduced to us. He is the author of the book on lace which I have translated. He seemed intelligent but not profound in his knowledge. Henry went out to Murano & took the Galloways with him to see the glass blowing. I stayed at home—painted & put some of the books in order. Had a lesson in lace making. At 7 had a small dinner party—viz Css Marcello, Signor G. Castellani & his bride (the Swiss Min: at Rome’s daughter), Sr Veludo of the Ducal Pal: library, & Count Finochetti the director of the Royal Palace– In the eveng Ld & Ly Galloway, the Miss Montalbas & Mrs Hanover came & Css Marcello sent for Teresa & Uccio. We had a pleasant evening.
