17 January 1881 — Naples | |
Monday. 17th January [1881]. After we had packed everything Henry & I went out for a walk. We went up the Sta Chiaja & to the Sta Lucia where we met the Bülows walking & shopping. We then walked back to the Hotel & got our luncheon. Mr Franks turned up at lunch & asked to be allowed to accompany us to the station. Train started at 2.40. Profr Errera & Dr Chiaradia met us at the station & Mr Franks drove there with us. The Ex-Khedive of Egypt went by the same train to Rome. We had a very good journey & got to Rome a few minutes after 10. Found our rooms ready at the H. d’Allemagne on 1st floor & a bedroom at the back which is very quiet. Tea & bed. | |
