2 March 1881 — Rome | |
Wednesday. 2nd March [1881]. Ash Wednesday. Left Rome by 10.40 train for Florence. Mme Keffenbrink, Mme Castellani & Mr Wood came to the station to see us off & brought us flowers. We had a rather cold journey & there was snow in the hills as we passed. We arrived at Florence ½ hour late. Mrs Sloane’s carriage met us & we went to Via Bufalini 35 to stay with her. Dined & went early to bed. | |
